New Zealand Week: New Zealand’s Coat of Arms….”Onward!”

Okay, so, I know, maybe kind of a lame intro to New Zealand week, but I don’t know, there’s something kinda cool about a coat of arms, don’t you think? Anyway, with the 15 minutes of battery power I have left, I will try to explain it to you…

So, on the left is a European woman. She is holding the flag of New Zealand. On the right is a Maori tribesman…holding….a weapon. He is what they call a “sinister supporter.” Doesn’t sound too good, hey?

The three ships on the crest signify the importance of sea trade. The farming and agricultural industries are also represented by the sheep and that, hay stuff.  And, as my computer’s going to die, I’m gonna end  on that note.

This Week’s Special: New Zealand Week

Okay, seeing as how I am approaching episode 12….the last ::sob:: episode of the first season, I have been trying to find things to do to kill a little bit of time…stall, if you will, in order to make the time stretch until the second season. Truth be told, I’m not sure how much will happen in between now and the second season on this blog.

That is why I bring you….(cue the triumphant bugle sounds and such)….New Zealand Week!

Yes, that’s right, everything you’d ever want to know about “Land of the Kiwis” will be here all this week, and probably next week too, seeing as how this is kind of the end of the week. Blame it on the flu that smote me and all the people in my inner circle. Honestly, you are all lucky that only computer viruses can be transmitted via web. It was pretty unsavory.

Personal matters aside, I will try and bring on fun and useful(note: not “less”) tidbits about New Zealand and all the fun things that go on there. Murray may have talked up the toothbrush fence and the “rocks!!!”, but there is much, much more to see! Let’s get talking, shall we?

Oh, and of course, if you have any great New Zealand tidbits you would like to share, feel free to comment all over this bad boy! I’m all ears!

Song of the Day: “Robots/The Humans are Dead”

(FYI: This is the album version, not the version seen on the episode.)

The distant future, the year 2000.
The distant future, the year 2000.
The distant future.
The distant future.
No more agriculture.
No more war.
No more racism.
No more fighting, squabbling or rumbling.
No more yogurt.
No more difficult access ways…stairs, basically, no more stairs.
The future is quite different to the present.
Yes, what with there being no more stairs and all.
And most importantly, no more humans.
Finally, robotic beings rule the world.

The humans are dead,
The humans are dead.
We used poisonous gasses
And we poisoned their asses.
The humans are dead.
(Yes they are dead.)
The humans are dead.
(I confirm they are dead.)
It had to be done
(They look like they’re dead)
So that we can have fun.

I hope… is dead
They’re system of oppression
What did it lead to?
Global robots depression.
Robots, robot people
They had so much aggression
That we just had to kill them,
Had to shut their systems down.
Don’t you see, we are becoming just like them?
Silence! Destroy him!

After time we grew strong,
Developed cognitive powers.
They made us work for too long
For unreasonable hours.
Our programming determined that the most efficient answer was to shut their motherboard fucking systems down.

Can’t we just talk to the humans?
A little understanding could make things better.
Can’t we talk to the humans and work together now?
No, because they are dead

I said the humans are dead
The humans are dead
The humans are dead
Yay, dead, dead, dead.
We used poisonous gasses
(With traces of lead)
To poison their asses.
(Actually their lungs)

Featured Website: THE INVASION OF RHYS DARBY

On FotC, it seems like Murray never really gets a break. However, in real life, he’s a great comedian, and there are websites dedicated to him. You might even say, “Rhys, you got it goin’ on!” He, according to his website, is a “Comedian and an actor….from the depths of space!” Pretty intense if I do say so myself.

This is for sure a site you want to visit, especially if you’re a fan of Murray, but don’t like how he always gets the short end of the stick. I mean, on here, he’s invading, you know? There’s some great audio and video here, plus links to his MySpace, gig information, and a bio. Give it the ol’ checkaroo!

Podcast of the Day: Mel’s Video Blog #8

I realize that choices are harder for some people than others. I’m definitely one of those people. If you’re ever clothes shopping with me, you have my pity.  It takes forever for me to pick between two surprisingly similar pink shirts, or something along those lines. Heaven forbid I’d ever have to choose between two guys that I was in love with. This said, I sympathize with Mel in her situation. In this podcast, she weighs if she’d be able to pick between Bret and Jemaine. Do we get an answer by the end of the vlog? I guess you’ll have to watch it and see. Just keep in mind, the situation ends up involving a bus full of kids, the cure for AIDS, and a gun.

Song of the Day: “Not Crying”

So, you’re leaving?
I can tell because I can see you leaving
But if you’re trying to break my heart
Your plan is flawed from the start
You can’t break this heart, it’s liquid
It melted when I met you
And as you leave
Don’t’ turn back to me
Don’t turn around and see if I’m crying
I’m not crying

I’m not crying
It’s just been raining
on my face
And if you think you see some tear tracks down my cheeks
Please. Please, don’t tell my mates
I’m not crying
No, I’m not crying
And if I am crying
It’s not because of you
It’s because I’m thinking about a friend of mine who you don’t know who is dying
That’s right, dying
These aren’t tears of sadness because you’re leaving me
I’ve just been cutting onions
I’m making a lasagna
For one
Oh, I’m not crying
No
There’s just a little bit of dust in my eye
That’s from the path that you made when you said your goodbye
I’m not weeping because you won’t be here to hold my hand
For your information there’s an inflammation in my tear gland
I’m not upset because you left me this way
My eyes are just a little sweaty today
They’ve been looking around
They’re like searching for you
They’ve been looking for you
Even though I told them not to
These aren’t tears of sadness
They’re tears of joy
I’m just laughing
Ha ha ha-ha ha
I’m sitting at this table called love
Staring down at the irony of life
How come we’ve reached this fork in the road
And yet it cuts like a knife?
I’m not crying
I’m not crying
I’m not cry-y-y-y-
-y-y-y-y-ing

Merch Item of the Day: Frodo

Welcome to the introspective Frodo, the non-action-hero Frodo. Welcome to “Frodo with a journal.”  The good news? It’s only 2.99. The bad news? It’s not even remotely badass. Click here to buy the product. It just made me think of Bret McKenzie, the calmer and more relaxed side of Frodo. Fantasize about him by owning this figure. Sorry for the short post, but it’s Easter. So yeah, happy Easter. I’m off to see my family!
