Episode of the Day: Episode 10: “New Fans”
So, okay, I never thought of Flight of the Conchords as being, um, “World Music,” but apparently that’s where Murray and I beg to differ, hey?
Well, I guess, if it weren’t for him the two wouldn’t have gotten the new fans that they did, and they never would have drank beer. So, in that way, it all worked out.
In Episode 10, “New Fans,” the fanbase, which was previously Mel, got expanded to two more fans that met the two at the world music jam at a local bar. They got the two to drink beer, went on the boys date with Mel that she won in the contest, and, oh yeah, got them to each try 1/16th of a dot of acid. This caused “The Pretty Prince of Parties,” the best LSD-based song since “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” (This is only a joke, no controversy, you can say it’s about LSD or about Julian’s picture all you want….I’m not going to argue this.)
Mel, obviously, gets very upset by all this extra attention, to the point that she stalks the boys more than normal and pushes her husband, Doug, even farther away. We also find out the history of her relationship with her husband, who was at one time her college professor. Saucy…..
